Move to VPS, cloud hosting, or managed WordPress when you need:

The buying checks that matter
Ignore unlimited marketing until you know the enforcement point. Unlimited storage can still have inode caps. Unlimited traffic can still have fair-use throttling. Free backups can still mean paid restores or short retention.
